James Ong

Chief Strategy Officer, Tsao Pao Chee Group (TPC)

As Chief Strategy Officer of the Group, James oversees all aspects of M&A and real estate asset management within the Group. He also sits on the Investment Committees of IMC Ventures and Octave Well-being Economy Fund, the corporate venture capital arms of TPC.

Prior to joining TPC, James was with YCH Group, where he spearheaded the Group’s joint ventures and M&A activities. He also led the acquisition of warehouses across Asia Pacific and managed 15 logistics assets across seven countries.

James has more than 24 years of experience across private banking, private equity, and investment banking, having worked with institutions including DBS Bank, OCBC Bank, Oppenheimer Investments, and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services. At Oppenheimer Investments, he served as Head of Asia for five years and was instrumental in establishing and growing the Group’s business across the region. He has successfully closed project finance transactions totaling more than US$500 million across industries including infrastructure, consumer goods, and real estate.

James has also managed a family office with investments spanning healthcare, consumer goods, aged care, engineering, renewable energy, and childcare, giving him extensive experience across both institutional and private capital.

James holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Corporate Finance, from the University of Western Australia. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (Australia).

In addition, James sits on the Board of Management of SPD, formerly known as the Society for the Physically Disabled, and is a member of the Victoria Advisory Committee (VS and VJC). He has also served as an independent director of a listed entity.
